Is it appropriate to open the car door for a girl even if it is not a "date"? Maybe like a first time hanging out and your not sure if she is romantically interested. I sometimes am not sure, as I dont want to come across as wanting something. Thanks.

I am a southern belle and most our men are raised that no matter what the circumstances, a gentleman always opens the door for a lady. Today, women have become so independant that men are afraid to even help them for fear of being accused of something. Speaking for myself, I would love to have a man open a car door for me at any time. It shows he is a gentleman and also that he is concerned about someone besides himself. So, err on the side of caution and open the door. If anything is said about it tell her that's the way your mom raised you.

I'd say that when you're just hanging out, it depends on the girl. Some girls would think it's a kind thing to do and others would be on the opposite end of the spectrum, thinking, as you said, that you want something. It is a very nice thing for guys to do and I don't ever see any guys do it. But I'd say that the safest time to open the door for a girl is when you're on a date.

It's always nice to come across a guy that does cute things like open doors and walk on the outside of the sidewalk. Keep it up! You'll definitely get some girl to notice even if it's not the girl your with.

Don't know how other women feel but I ADORE being fussed over by a man. Car doors opening, having help with my coat, standing when I enter the room are all things that make me feel more like a woman and in turn make me likely to act much more like one. I don't care what my relationship is with the man.
I'd always act on the side of doing it in error rather than not doing it and never knowing. I think you'll find that most women love it.

I love it when my boyfriend opens the car door for me, but I would be kind of surprised if my guy friends did. Mainly I am out the door before they can do it for me. But I do appreciate it when they open all the other doors for me. I don't think there is anything wrong. You could just see what happens after you stop the car. If she lingers, go get that door. It is polite and sweet.

When you approach the car, open her door for her, wait until she gets in and then close it for her. When you get out, most women will not wait for you to open the door for them.
Open the door for her when you walk into a building also, but dont slam it in the next person's face, either.

I would say just pick up on her cues. ALL women like to have regular doors held for them, but car doors are a different story. If she doesn't push open the door when you get there, then open her door. If not then open it.

Most girls find that attractive in a guy. So don't worry about coming on too stong. If anything the girl will like you even more! 90% of the time girls want to be treated right, so be polite if thats who you really are. Girls will not only want to date you some might want to learn from you.

I think if you're just friends and you open the door for the girl, then it might show that you're kinda interested. I think it depends more on the girl. but nothing wrong with a little manners

It is not necessary to act like a gentleman .But whatever you do or not do ,you need to make the girl feel comfortable and behave 'polite' irrespective of the meeting being a date or not a date.
