I have a pain that comes back frequently in my left side. It's not my appendix because that would be on the right side. It's a pain just above my pelvis, sometimes it shoots up into my shoulder. It isn't a pulled muscle. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

look on webmd for symptoms of this type of pain that you are describing could be a number of things, so looking it up on a medical web site might help narrow it down.

First it still could be your appendix. I had a ruptured appendix and actually had a gall bladder type attack than the typical right side pain.
This left side pain could be diviticulitis. If this pain continues you really should go to the doctor and see what is going on.

Hmmm...if this is on your lower left side just above your pelvis, then it could be numerous things. It could be something simple and not serious. I would see a doctor and not try to guess what it might be.

Could be related to ovulation. I saw a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner for a similar pain (sort of ached like a muffled toothache) and he prescribed a homeopathic that really worked quickly. Haven't experienced it since.

Too vague for diagnosis. More info needed. Exact location? Is pain sharp, dull, throbbing, burning, aching, etc.? Before or after meals? Before or after B.M.?
If you went to a Dr. and told him you had a pain in the area, what would he ask?
recent exercise or trauma?

I used to have somewhat same problem. My lower back pulled enough to discomfort my upper body. I had occasional "shocks" or "spasm" on my lower back. I went to Chiropractor to see what's wrong. I got adjustments for three days and everything was fine. He told me my posture is really bad. I guess I got off easy that time.
