Because the Mark 1 human is too dense, too weak, and about as aerodynamic as a ball of mud. We also lack feathers or some other way to redirect the flow of air over our limbs.

Not that having feathers would do it - the ostrich has them, but it still violates the first rule. But keep throwing yourself off the barn roof - if you find a way to do it so that it lets you compete in the environment better than those that don't, your offspring will probably be better at flying than those of your current competitors. In a few million years, your offspring may evolve the ability to fly.

Or your competitors will evolve into EMTs.
