You can install it over windows ... it will tellyou before installing which programs or drivers may give you problems as well. I would suggest the clean install though, as I had to go into the different apps that wouldn't work and delete them, taking a bit of time.

Hi, no you do not have to clean your computer to do it. If you want to erase everything and start fresh you can buy a full install that costs more but transfers your system as if it was always vista. If not, just buy the ugprade which is 100 (full is 200).

Both, you can do a clean install as well as upgrade from win xp/2000. I am not sure about previous versions of windows.

You can install it over previous versions as far back as 2000 w/o problem. You may be able to go back further but I've not tried that. I've been toying with VISTA final Release candidate and and can only say.........you'll be sorry!
