Yes age doesn't have anything to do with it. TIA's can be tested for by a doctor.

CT Scans are usually the first tests done if a person is suspected of having mini-strokes.
An MRI can also be run to back-up the findings from the CT scan.

Some people call a transient ischemic attack (TIA) a mini-stroke, because the symptoms are like those of a stroke but do not last long. A TIA happens when blood flow to part of the brain is blocked or reduced, often by a blood clot. After a short time, blood flows again and the symptoms go away. With a stroke, the blood flow stays blocked, and the brain has permanent damage.

A TIA is a warning: It means you are likely to have a stroke in the future. If you think you are having a TIA, call 911 or OOO . Early treatment can help prevent a stroke. If you think you have had a TIA but your symptoms have gone away, you still need to call your doctor right away.

Hi Avahunter,

Why should they be tested? TIA is not stroke =Transient Ischemic Attack -it is a temporary brain blood circulation problem. Strokes are not tested for if there are no symptoms. Strokes are very rare in young people so age does indeed have to do with the likelihood. A question before a test is always:when I get the result, will it make a difference for: therapy?outcome?further exams? or something. If the outcome -be it whatever -won't make any difference, why study. MRI with diffusion weighted images is the most sensitive. CAT scans are less sensitive for strokes.
all the best
