I know some people like this, and they seem to know enough about religion to get themselves in danger.
But you're right, they do take a pointed interest in something they don't believe in.
It sounds weird at first, but it actually is sad, in my opinion.
We humans are the only ones that actually know of their mortality, and people whether they admit it or not, think about their death.
What will it feel like, is there an afterlife,... you name it, we think it.
So having lost faith before, I tried justifying not believing, but I have since found my way back.
It can be hard, I see people blame everything bad in life on God, or you see horrible things happen to very good people and you ask, Why?
So I guess to answer you question, Atheists want to believe, and they are pleading for someone to show them the way.
Enjoy

I read these questions frequently. I don't think atheists ask a lot of questions about God. Occasionally someone might be curious to know why so many people are so adamant about a supreme being, even though he can only be perceived subjectively, never objectively. That's what intrigues atheists. This passion without objective evidence.
If someone would like to convince me that God exists, based on objective evidence, I sincerely would love to hear his or her evidence,as long as it is objective. I am honestly open to the truth.
The best evidence I heard so far is: "The Bible says so" or
"How can we understand the universe without God?" and other
products of imagination.
We do not mind your anger. Anger and hatred are frequently
fermented by religion. Just read the news.

I don't think Atheists ask that many questions about God. Most already pretty much have their mind made up about God.
The reasons why atheists debate religion, study religion, or get involved with religion in any way varies from atheist to atheist.

We don't ask because there is something we want to know. We already know everything there is to know about god. We make points by putting them in the form of a question, because, psychologically a person will respond less defensively to attempts at enlightenment this way.

Why do Christians ask so many questions about atheists? They're not atheists, so what's the point?

Why does anyone ask about a religion? I would think either they are interested in it, or they are trying to get a rise out of you. No one will change anyone else's faith by argument. And all I see is when someone posts about Christianity or the Bible there is always someone going to fuss about it no matter why or how they ask it, the same goes for Atheism. I guess that's how some people get their kicks. ha ha

I don't mind them asking questions... God makes a lot of people naturally curious. It is the insulting "Why do you believe in such phony stories" or "Why are you such a dumb-a$$"
Luckily not all, and not the majority of athiests are like that. Most are very nice, respectful people who don't mind that I believe something that they don't.

I'm an atheist and I don't ask questions about god.I sometimes question how someone can believe in a myth.

Atheists act all brave but deep inside they know God is real so they still seek contact with those f us who admit publicly we love God.

The questions are usually rhetorical. We already know there isn't a good answer. We are just asking because Christians don't think to.
