We have a Department of Treasure?
Cool!
Is it guarded by a Dragon?
Unless they were used in a crime and confiscated, or others (such as possibly landlords) had an interest in them, they belong to the illegal. All he has to do is mail a friend his keys to get them and box them up. Houses can be sold but he'll have to get someone else to do it, since he won't be there. Savings accounts you can empty through other banks, requiring transfers by wire.
Why?

I wonder about this, too. I believe everything they own should be confiscated as "proceeds from crime" or "ill-gotten gains." I think property, cars, etc. should be sold and any cash they have, bank accounts, etc. should be taken and put into a fund towards enforcement of our border and towards costs of deportation. I think they should leave with what they had when they came, the clothes on their backs, only.

My guess is that their belongings just sit until they reenter the U.S. on their next visit.

they keep all the assets and tell no one where they've hidden it. That's why millions of people think illegals don't pay taxes.
