Yes, that sentence sounds a bit odd.
Logging (wh(when not talking about eightersigning on t t th internet or record keep) means cutting down trees, spitting them into logs, carrying them... ... the duties of a lumberJacki.
Hey, the structure of my sentence is not much better.
Sorry.
Anyway, that is what I think that they are talking about here: the industry of deforestation: cutting down and clearing out trees for lumber.

Perhaps it refers to the removal of trees (deforestation) to be used as fuel, like the coal also mentioned in the sentence. Where did you find this sentence?

logging came from log. Log is tree pieces, wood for make cabins and fire. You know what a log cabin is I presume. So probably means "troncos". If its a werehouse in which they have them. But that depend on the context that it is used.
