Or does it just tone and build muscle. I don't care about looking 'toned' or 'muscular'. I just REALLY want to lose fat and be slimmer and leaner. So does cardio remove fat?

Cardio workouts are great for burning fat, but you should also try to tone your muscles, too.

More muscle mass means calories burned 24/7, so if you have a more toned body, you can pig out on ice cream and pizza once in a while without worrying about putting on weight as much. Not to mention that a toned body looks a lot better than just a skinny body!

Jogging, certainly. You in a way answer this question yourself: if skipping were a better workout, why would it be so much easier? That said, jogging and running can be very hard on the joints, and a lot of people claim that you have to be in pretty good shape already if you want to benefit from either. I would recommend biking or going to the gym and using an aseptically machine at first, or even just going for long walks. For any form of aerobics, I also recommend listening to something at the same time (music, an audiobook, a podcast, or something else). That way you don't focus on how much hard work you're doing, which results in your spending more time working out.

Cardio doesn't exactly "remove" it but it will trim you down somewhat. The best way though to flatten your stomach for example, is cardio + some sort of toning like crunches. You need both the cardio and the toning to actually lose the weight and fat.

Yes, cardio removes fat

You need to do at least 20 minutes of continuous cardio though before your body kicks in and starts removing fat. Before that, your body is just using those carbs in your body stored for energy.

You should try to do some conditioning and weight lifting though because that will speed up the process of burning fat and while toning is not your number one concern, it goes hand in hand with burning fat

Think of it this way, you'll burn the fat AND you'll look LEAN too =)

Cardio helps, but you can't lose fat without building muscle. Other wise, you'll loose the fat and have lots of loose skin hanging from you.
Muscle burns fat faster than oxygen. Therefore, you need to build muscle to burn fat. You can do this without looking toned and muscular.

Cardio melts fat by expending calories. Lifting weights firms you up once the excess fat is gone. Plus, weight lifting will help you shed more fat once you've plateaued from the cardio.

Yes, Cardio does remove fat. It's healthy and it's very beneficial to your body and your heart. You can't ask for more from cardio.

Cardio is aimed at decreasing fat and increasing heart rate. Only small amounts of muscle mass (in the legs) are formed. Each pound of fat is equivalent to 3,500 calories. Therefore, you must burn 3,500 more calories, or eat 3,500 less calories to lose one pound of fat.
