Generally the males do fine if you have the torbpetunic(pain meds) maybe give that to him for the first 24 hours (depending on his size one full dropper 3 times daily), to keep him calm. You don't want him to go crazy. Make sure he doesn't lick alot and if he does that could be a sign of discomfort. Also feed a 1/3 of the amount of food and water for the first night, and if everything goes okay resume normal feedings the next morning.Too much will make them vomit.

When you picked up your dog from the vet, there should have been a check list as to what to do for him while he heals. Most of the time with a surgery like that, you should just keep him quiet for a couple of weeks, but he will let you know when he is feeling better. The vet also should have given you an antibiotic as well as a pain medication that will help him until he isn't as tender.
I have a dog that was on the losing end of a dog fight and lost her front left leg. She was groggy for a day but as soon as she was able to get around on her own, she was fine. The incision was tender for about a week, but she was hard to keep down. If he will let you, just hold him until he falls asleep, then just put him in his bed. I found that if you have a heating pad on low, it will help with the pain.
Your little guy will be just fine in a short time.

you need to call your vet, how long ago was this? did they send pain meds home? this is not normal for a neuter to be in this much pain afterwards. i would call a vet and see about some pain meds. but thank you for being such a responsible pet owner and having your dog neutered, sorry he's hurting so bad.

Give him a nice heating pad to lay on, but only put it on low or medium and put a nice blanket on it. Also hide the cord if he chews up things or could possibly chew it.
If he's still in a lot of pain after a day or two after the surgery I would call the vet and see if he should be checked.

Just make him a comfy bed, like a thick blanket or something and bunch it up, but not like clumpy, we did that with my dog, he eventually fell asleep after we made him a bed, best we could do .

your pet will get tired and will lay down soon. do not try to force him to lay down. put his blanket or a towel down and sit on the floor next to it. tap the floor and he may come to it. but let him decide if he wants to lay down. it will bother him for a while. it is so sad to see that but be strong and wait it out with him.
