Have not eaten the stuff in years. Bought a pack recently as an alternative to fatty bacon. It tastes like ham but served in smaller portions? What is this stuff pork tenderloin?

I have never seen the cornmeal stuff wiki talks about (I was born in Canada and I still live in Canada).
I don't know why it is called Canadian bacon.
What I call bacon is the same stuff that Americans call bacon.

Back bacon is a lean meaty cut of bacon.
Canadian bacon is a term used in the United States and Canada, but with differing meanings. In the United States it refers to any lean meaty cut of bacon, but in Canada, Canadian bacon refers to a specific variety of unsmoked lean bacon that has been sweet pickle-cured and coated in yellow cornmeal, which is also known as peameal bacon.

Pork tenderloin is completely different stuff:

http://southernfood.about.com/cs/porktenderloin/a/pork_tenderloin.htm Pork tenderloin is one of the leanest meats available, and according to the National Pork Producers' comparison chart, it's nearly as low in saturated fat as chicken breasts. The tenderloin is part of the loin, and you can usually find it sold separately in packages of two. Since there's very little fat on a tenderloin, a small amount can go a long ways, particularly in stir-fry dishes, or cut and flattened as medallions.

It's cured like ham BUT, it's made from the loin of the pig, rather than the leg. Far as I know it's eaten in Canada, but isn't called Canadian bacon. "The term Canadian Bacon or Canadian-style bacon must be made from the pork loin, and means back bacon,[15] but this term refers usually to the lean ovoid portion (m. longissimus, or loineye).[10] It also can be made from the sirloin portion of the loin (gluteal muscles), but must be labeled appropriately. Similar products made from the ham are used as less expensive substitutes." -From Wikipedia

Basically ham. Try just frying up some smoked ham in a little butter, it's cheaper and tastes great.

Man, I'm hungry now.

Canadian Bacon is just what Canadians call peamel bacon.

it is basically ham- whenever I used to order canadian bacon at certain pizza chains, they would ask, "you mean ham?"
it is also described as an unsmoked, leaner, meatier bacon
