Was the infection in his penis or his prostate? Neutering is part of the treatment for prostate infections, but they can still take a while to go away, esp if he's an older dog-- one of the reasons for early neutering. He should be on a good antibiotic-- if he's on one and it's not working, he may need a different one. Let your vet know he's still bleeding. Also, sometimes dogs get prostate cancer, so if the prostatitis doesn't resolve w/antibiotics and neutering, there may be something more going on. Good Luck!!

l have not heard of a dog getting a infection in the penis from being neutered. and if he has any infection any wheres then you should take him back to the vet. if you feel that the operation was not clean then mention that to him. and you can always get another vet's opinion. but it is possible that after the operation he [ dog] wet on his self and that could cause infection. so take him to your vet and good luck.

Call and speak to a vet over the phone. If you call and a vet cannot come to the phone right away then have a vet call you back. They will advise you on medical advice on what to do, signs to look for, and if you need to bring him in for an exam.
Does not hurt to call and speak to a vet, especially if your dog is showing problems with his neutering.
I know when my dog goes in for treatment they always tell me to call if I have any problems. So I know if my vet does that, then most vets must also do that.
Good Luck.

He should not still be bleeding. I would take him back to the vet as soon as you can to avoid further problems. That's too sensitive an area and he's probably in pain.

the infection is still there, and it's bleeding because the body is trying to get the infection out. obviuosly, this is extremely dangerous, and i recommend to make sure he doesn;t mess around down there, and get him to the closest EMERGENCY vet immediatley!!!

Sue the vet, they probably botched the operation. This happened to my dog, his incision was open when I checked after bringing him home from the vet and I brought him back in and they gave me a refund for doing a bad job. He was okay eventually.

I would take him to another veterinarian for a second opinion and remedy. The vet that did the operation will try to cover his a**!

No, but I would take him back to the Vet immediately.
It does not sound right that he is still bleeding.
