when you ask them if they like you what does it mean exactly? i kind of took it as an i dont like you but in a nice way so they didnt sound mean.

He;s not ready to go out, but he likes you. The fact that he said "somewhat" at the beginning is a little weird. Perhaps he doesn't "like like" you, but likes you?
