Go to a tanning bed and when you tan for the first time only do 5 min., for 3 days then move up to 7 min. and then 10 and then 20. for about 2 weeks then you will have the start of a new tan and you will look good and you will not burn. I got burned on a bed the 1st time in years since I been on a bed, but I liad on the bed the 1st time 2 long. Start out less time and then move up 2 more time.

If you live in a sunny climate now, start tanning each day like 30 minutes front/back. If you live where it's cold, go to a tanning salon. Stay in the equivalent of 30 minutes. Continue for a couple days until you just start to get a little tan. All you want to do is get a "base tan", to adjust your skin to sunlight. Don't stay out longer than an hour or two when you go on your trip. This all depends of course on your complexion, very fair, less time each time, the darker your pigmentation the longer you could stay out. Be sure to use a sunscreen, too. It won't keep you from tanning, just help with the UV rays.

Are you wanting to tan while in Mexico or no? If you did, I would start going to a tanning salon now to get a base tan that will help you from burning in Mexico. I would also get a lotion with a good SPF.

If you've got some time before going to Mexico. Go to a tanning salon once a week to get your melanin used to the UV rays. If you get a good base tan before you go, you most likely wont burn.

Tanning is your skins reaction to the sun. It releases pigments to protect it from getting damaged.

Use any SPF factor of 30 or higher and you'll take longer to tan, but you'll spare your skin from damage and prevent yourself from looking like a sagging prune when your 60.

Be careful!!

Wear sunscreen at least SPF 30 or higher. You will still tan it just takes a little longer. Wear a floppy hat to keep your face covered & some sunglasses. :)
