Ahh, poor little guy. Change his diet to lots of fruits and fibers, get things softened up internally for at least a month. When you see anything except a normal bowel movement EVERY DAY, I used a half of a glycerine suppository on the two of my kids that did this at the time of day they normally wanted to go (after breakfast, after lunch, whatever.. The suppository didn't stay in there very long, but it did get them on the potty and moving, after a couple of times along with the diet change it was all over and things were back to normal.

Cut back on cheese and dairy, that will make it worse, lots of raisen bran cereal, wheat bread, fruit fruit fruit, he'll slowly get back to normal. Don't yell at him (it didn't sound like you were), just keep being supportive and let him know to stay there for a little while til he's done. Maybe find something for him to do while sitting there, a little etchasketch or something that he can't have any other time except potty time. If he gets interested in something else that will help him relax, too.

How old is your son? My son was the same way! During potty training he would hold back on pooping and when he would go he would sit in the corner and it would be so huge it took him forever to go and he would cry and cry! I started giving him more fiber foods like oatmeal in the morning and wheat breads and such. Also lots of water. I give him a natural laxative every so often when he does not go for a while. He is now 4 and much better but I know what you are going through.

My son has experienced this numerous times. I finally had to take him to the dr and get a prescribed laxative. I understand that your dr is not open over the weekend. Here are some ideas that you can try until you are able to talk to your dr:

1. have your son bend over so you can apply a small amount of Vaseline there. I had to do this with mine...I just put some on a cotton swab and put it on.

2. go to the store and by Fleet baby lax...this will not be comfortable for your son, but it will allow him to have a bowel movement within minutes.

GOOD LUCK!!

My son did this long ago.
First of all contact your doctor and see how much fiber you need to start giving him. There are fiber wafers that will help with that.
My son would get that constipated so I had to just help him by basically bending him over my knee and get that hugh ball of poop out with my finger. Dont let him be in pain when he is having trouble become a helper not a watcher.
Just get hold of his doctor and ask what to do when it happens. I called the hospital when my son was constipated and they told me to start scooping it out and then call his doctor and make an appointment.

I had this problem with my 3 yr old. He would only poop in a diaper and at one point he must have held it it so long he became painfully constipated. You can't force potty training because the kid will win. I took him to a pediatric gastrointerologist.(sp?) He had impacted feces. He said to give him an enema that day and the next day. That worked. I warmed it in a sink of warm water first. He didn't love it but it worked. Once he got all of that out he was fine from then on out. He's 5 now and we never had another problem.

Fiber Source is great!!! I put it in everything. From juice, milk, kool-aid, spaghetti sauce, mac n cheese, and more. You name it I add it. It helps a lot. Prune/Apple juice is great once a day.

As soon as you can take him to the Doctor.

How old is he...What does he eat...he could be lactose intolerance. Many things.

I would cut back on the milk and cheese, Give him lots or apple sauce and prune base juice.

Wish you best of luck...Check with your Dr. as soon as you can.

I also let my child keep there feet propped up on the stool while I sit there and they lean over and i rub there back to help them. I will relax them to help them go. A nice warm bath before and after will help.

I would talk to your doctor. You could try sitting with him in the bathroom and read a book while he goes. He my think he is missing some thing and doesn't want to take the time to go. Sometimes kids have a hard time pooping because its a part of their body and they don't want to let it go. I know that sounds weird but I've done child care for 7 yrs most with preschool. When he goes on the pot get real excited for him let him know you are proud of him for going no the toilet. If he goes in his pants try not to make him feel bad about it. I still think you should take to your doctor, Best of luck

You need to take this child to a pediatrician as blockage could be very serious. You're not being crude, you're asking for help for a child. There are medications that can soften the stool and therefore help him. Not sure where you are, but if it's a possibility, head to the nearest pharmacy and speak to a pharmacist. That child has to be very uncomfortable. I wish you the best.

This happened to my cousin and she got seriously backed up and couldnt walk or sit or anything....get him to a doctor right away! It hurt my cousin to go so she didnt and then got so backed up that it hurt her to even try. They took her to doctors and they did an xray and saw how backed up she was, like all the way up her intestines and a lot of gas too that was all trapped and causing her SEVERE pain. The doctors gave her an enima and sent some home and she finally went and was great everytime after that. Please get him to a pediatrician, it can be VERY painful!
