I did.

I was raised catholic. In the third grade when they told me that all of the hypocrites I went to church with were going to heaven and all the good people who did not believe in my version of the religious popular fantasy were going to hell, I knew that either God was an idiot or they were telling me lies about God.

After careful deliberation I concluded that God was probably not an idiot.

Love and blessings Don

The answer is yes.

As a child of a muslim and a jewish child turned christian, I am neither a follower of organized religion nor an atheist, I am just who I am. I have my own belief system. It's none of your business what my beliefs are, nor is it his business or her's.
I am as free as I can be: I don't pay any tithe nor do I have to cram my Sundays with bullshit sermons. I don't have to travel to a place called Mecca, nor am I obligated to go on a Catholic retreat or a Mormon mission. I am free from religion. The only thing that imprisons me are followers of organized religion who seem to think that I am lost without following one, so then, they prosletize. Why??? This is ludicrous! I don't give a sh** what you (generally speaking) are. You can be Christian, Muslim, Catholic, Mormon, Buddhist, Jehovah's Witness, Baha'i--I don't give a sh**! You live your life and I'll live mine the way I see fit. That, I would have to say, is the only way I might feel imprisoned.
Other than that.....I am happy as an oyster with a pearl washed ashore on a white, sandy beach!

Please, religious people:
Leave us non-organized-religious followers alone. We have just as much right on this planet as you do. Oh, and another thing: You've told us we're going to hell about a million and one times........uh, okay, whatever you say. Should that bother us in some way?

You can make up your own mind, certainly. That is why God gave you free will. It's almost an inherited thing because when you're 7, you really have no idea what to think of religion at all and couldn't possibly make up your own mind. So your parents teach you what they believe is the answer. And you do what your family does and either stick with it or move on when you think find something better.

Organized religion is definitely a load of crap, but so is the concept of god and prayer. Numerous studies have been done, many by religious organizations, to try to prove the power of prayer. All failed miserably. (one or two that were originally called successful by religious organizations were retracted when independent scrutiny found the results were fudged) All unlikely outcomes occur at the statistically predicted rate. You sound like an intelligent person, perhaps you're just a science book or two away from total enlightenment. I hope so. Good luck in the future.

Hm, start up with the old testomony and see if that would not clean some issues up for you. Wars have been fought for hundreds of years. it extremely is not a clean element because of the fact of religion. comparable with human beings getting away with doing unspeakable issues interior the call of religion. no longer all religious actually everyone seems to be like that. truthfully you already know you're portray with an somewhat huge brush right here, and assigning greater effective portions to the few who truly do such issues.

Make up your own mind...absolutely.!!! I believe good churches serve a good purpose when they preach the so called Golden Rule. When their dogma tries to convince the person that other men over several thousands of years ago had "spoke" to the almighty and was passing on "His" words...I say, show me the proof.
Faith is necessary in any religion but too often the person is told to accept fantasy and the personal beliefs of one who is no smarter or better able to guide you than you are yourself.

I agree, organized religion is an excuse for some churches to just get money from their parishioners. I believe in God and I don't feel I have to be closed up in a building to worship him. I own five acres of woods and I feel this is the best place to worship my God. In fact my husband and I got married in our backyard in the middle of this forest.

This is going to seem weird to you because of my avatar and that I listen to heavy metal and watch Sci-Fi/ horror movies but I also read the Bible and I pray however I don't go to church because they kick you when you're down and I don't listen to tv preachers because they seemed to be more concerned these days about what's going on up in our nation's capital,Hollywood and everywhere else in the world rather than preach God's word like they are suppose to do.

Unfortunately, it's just another sales scheme. Give me your money and I will tell you you're right and the other guy is wrong. People are paying to hear someone tell them they are right.

Read about all different forms of philosphy and let your heart guide you. Don't believe (or disbelieve) because someone tells you too or you are trying to make someone happy by agreeing with them.

You are correct! However, I was one of the luck few to get away from my parents Christian beliefs.
