I'm interested in transferring my car insurance to Geico. I went to their website and filled out the electronic form, and the amount came out quite expensive. I thought it was going to be cheaper. Should I call them and speak with a rep for more accurate info?

You just found out that there is no such thing as "Truth in advertising". Geico is NOT a cheap alternative in most cases. If someone tells you they lowered their rates by switching to Geico then they were paying outrageous rates to start with. Your best bet is to get rate quotes from a number of companies. ANd try some independent agents while you're at it. You can find them in the phone book.

Good Luck

I had geico for a while. They advertise great prices and great service. The prices were average. I figured that at least they would have live people, 24 hours a day, like they claimed. Guess what? When I needed them, They did not have live customer service reps, and when they did, during NORMAL business hours, I waited on hold for 30 minutes.
They were terrible all together.

Oh, and I had to call them 4 times to tell them that Jason is not a mrs, it is a Mr. (so they could send me the right cards)

Factors to consider when buying Car Insurance. With Liability what are the Bodily injury amounts and how much will they pay in property damage? The smaller the amounts the smaller the cost of the policy. Medical payments, how much will they pay if an accident occurs? How much is the Deductible Comprehensive? How much is the Deductible Collision? Same here, the more you pay on the duductible the lower the cost of the policy. Will you want emergency road service? Uninsured Motor Vehicle & Underinsured Motor Vehicle. What are those amounts? Sure they can lower your payments but they may also be lowering your coverage. Shop around and ask others what they have and their coverage and pick whats best for you. Its not easy but once you find out whats right for you, go for it. Also ask them about accident free, vehicle safety, multicar and multiple line, drivers education discounts if any apply. Good luck to you.
