it is sort of expensive but well-worth the money. i am 13 and in the 8th grade and have had problems with acne and i use philosopy "purity" face wash and " on a clear day" acne cream. it works wonders.

At sixth grade, you're at a time in your life when hormonal changes are fluctuating.
First of all, I do not suggest you go all out and purchase expensive treatments as a lot of them are geared towards adult users who have the dollars to spend. Like most adolescents, your pimple problems are likely to be temporary so I'd recommend you start with store-bought products.
What may be causing your pimples is an increased production of oils on your skin paired with blackheads that clog your pores. One thing that will surely help combat this problem is to keep your face clean and oil-free (at least keep it at its minimum).
Simply follow the regimen "cleanse, tone, moisturize" (in this order). This is the concept behind more expensive treatments such as Proactive, but you can also put together your own "kit" from store bought brands such as Clean and Clear, Almay, Neutrogena or other popular brands.
If your pimples are severe, instead of plain moisturizer, try to find one with acne-fighting ingredients and when looking for a toner, try to find one that is non-drying or moisture-renewing as this product, by nature, has the tendency to dry up your skin anyway.
Also, try making a habit of taking a mild facewash (with scrubbing beads or one that exfoliates) with you to your shower. Your pores are more open during a warm shower and will make your skin more prone to deeper cleansing. As your skin clears, you can then use a face towel (applying slight pressure) to help manage blackheads.
Good luck!

Many have answered you for acne dear emmy.Guess you have a bit biggersize pimples than the smaller ones.
If you really have small acne problem then i suggest to use any facial cream with the composition of Berberies aquifolia available in any homeostores near your area. Internally you need to take berberies 6c and sulpher 6c alternatively for a month and can see the result. Also add taking 5 drops of mother tincture of sarsaparilla with a cup of water 2 or 3 times a day morning and evening. This should clear your problem .
However if you have a big pimples problem all the face you need to take ledumpal 30c and thuja 30c alternatively once a week for 3 months. Add kalisulph 6x 4 tablets 3 times a day . continue sarsaparilla.
Calandula and aloevera from other pharmaceuticals seems to be too costlier than what it should be rated in actual. But In any homeostores it is available for low cost. You can increase your complexion and avoid the pits of pimples by using aloevera cream available in any homeostores email me if you need more help.....radarboy@walla.com

Don't use soap on your skin if you have acne because soap will irritate the skin and therefore worsen your acne.
There are soap-free cleansers such as Cetaphil, Spectro Gel and The Body Shop also has soap-free cleansers in their Grapefruit, Aloe and Seaweed line.
You should also use a mild exfoliating cleanser once a week to remove dead skin (which clog the pores, causing acne) and a light moisturizer after cleansing

I had the very same problem in 6th grade! It wasn't fun AT ALL.
Clean & Clear stuff is good, and so is Neutrogena cuz they keep your skin from being really oily. The Clean & Clear acne medicine in the silver tube (you can get it at Wal-Mart) works wonders on problem spots.
But in the winter time, even though my skin is VERY oily in the t-zone, Neutrogena really dried out my skin, so I switched to Cetaphil when the air is dry and its really gentle on your skin and helps keep it clear. plus, its what my doctor said I should use.
Whatever you use, make sure it has SALICYLIC ACID in it. Benzoyl peroxide works, but it will bleach your clothes and isn't as strong as salicylic acid.
Hope you have a better skin than I did! =~)

Hi Emmy! I am a Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. I also have a daughter who will be in the 6th grade next year who is having a lot of changes in her skin as you are. I would ask your parents about trying the Velocity products from Mary Kay. I started my daughter on the Velocity facial cleanser and lightweight moisturizer and it is doing wonderful things to her skin. Velocity is popular to teenagers and preteens. Make sure you ask your parents about this, and show them my website. If you or they have any questions, feel free to contact me from my website below...Good Luck!

Use something gentle. If you get an acne cleanser the chemicals can irritate your skin and make it worse. I'd recommend either Purpose (you can buy it at most drugstores or Ulta), or Clear Skin Regimen cleanser (my favorite, you can buy it at acnesupplies.com). An acne medication with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is also a good way to clear and rpevent pimples.
Good luck, and don't forget to moisturize!

Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. It's great! You can use it as a daily cleanser or leave it on longer as a mask! Be sure to follow up with an oil free moisturizer after washing.

Proactiv is definitely the best skin care product I have ever used. Some people have said Acne Free is also just as good and it's sold in regular retail outlets.
