I see the Bible as a book of promise of better things to come. The guilt you speak of is the sin of mankind, and those whose evil practices stem from their worship of idols. The Bible does not try to suppress man's natural instincts, except when those instincts lead to degradation of the soul and spirit. Anyone who believes in the glory of God and obeys His commands does not have anything to feel guilty about.

It is hard to solve a problem without first identifying it. The reason the Bible points out the sin of man is so that they will see the need and have a desire for the SOLUTION to the sin problem. The will be able to see why and from what faith in Christ will free them.

You are wrong, the bible is mans instructional manual to live life the way it should be lived.
think about it. When you go to the store and buy anything. Doesn't it have instructions. from food products to stereo systems, everything has instructions.
Do you know if Eve had not transgressed Gods Law there would not be a such thing as death.

We are all sinners and guilt is the result of that sin as well as death. The bible also gives us hope, and salvation, and it is full of history, and the prophets, and our Lord Jesus.
So when you get past the guilt and repent and ask Jesus into your life, then you will see that the bible above all is alive!

No, it isn't a book of guilt. What is it that you want to do that would make you feel guilty?

I think thats good. It is honest. I'd rather be in a religion that tells me I have to better myself rather than be in a religion that says I am God, that anything I do is justified, etc etc etc.

Let man believe what he wants to believe and let God decide who is right and who is wrong.
