Walking and jogging will get things speeding up. Your heart gets to pumping, blood gets to rushing, everything runs faster. That's one reason there are so many treadmills in gyms and homes. They provide a means to exercise even when weather is bad. I think they are one of the best ways to exercise there is. Here is an article on treadmill exercise you may want to read.

Walking at a brisk pace for 30-40 minutes 2 to 3 times a week will not only build up your metabolism,but, it will exercise and tone up every muscle in your body!

Any exercising will speed up your metabolism done on a regular basis. Cardio would be the best I think.

depending on your health and current level of fitness the addition of interval training is the single best thing you can do add to increase your BMR and not take up much more of your time.
