I have relatives in the US and they told me they have commercials every 10 mins or so on television over there. Is this true?
We have regulators over here. You're only allowed to have an ad break after a minimum of 15mins of programming.

sounds about right. Out of a half hour television show there is only like 21 minutes of actual show the rest is comercial. That is why when they run older shows (M*A*S*H, Star Trek, Jeffersons) they have to cut more out to fit the commercials in, other wise the shows would 10 minutes longer and a 30 minute show would run 40 min and an hour show would run an hour and 20 minutes.

I think it's more like 12 minutes - during the Olympics, I timed the actual events versus the commercials - the events themselves took up about 22 minutes of every hour while the commercials topped 25.

Typically, in a half hour show, you have a break about 10 minutes in. Another break about 7 minutes after that and a third and final break when the show has about 2 minutes left.
This is ALL based on "The Daily Show" and I'm not sure what "real networks" are like.

Definitely true, unfortunately. I've even seen it happen after only 5-7 min, especially towards the end of a program.

if it is a 1/2 hour show, there is generally 8 minutes of ads and 22 minutes of program. if the show is 1 hour, there are generally 20 minutes of ads and 40 minutes of programming.

In America we have TV-Breaks between the commercials.

Its about eight minutes of tv in canada and then 2 or three of commercials. in fact, their on right now lol.

we have alot of em, during movies it normally lasts 4 or 5 minutes
