Im trying to find my half-sister from my fathers side.?

I have never met my half-sister. My mother told me about her once in 5th grade. She's my dad's daughter with another women whom he never married. I know her hometown because she was unofficially adopted by my fathers parents whom he has not been in contact with since the nasty court battle that he lost her in. I'm not sure if she still lives in the same place, but I'm desperate to find her. I feel incomplete knowing I have a sibling out there that might not even know I exist. Please Please Please if you have any ideas that would help. I've tried many web searches and had no luck. I'm really very short on cash so I can't sign up for the expensive searches. Please help. I appreciate it. thanks.

Get in contact with your paternal grandparents, or anyone on that side of the family (aunts, uncles, cousins, anyone). Call information if you know their names, ask your mom for their information. If you want to bad enough, you'll ask the right people.
