The winter months can be harsh on your hair. The extreme elements in combination with dryness, color and permanents, can leave hair frizzy and fragile. Here are some quick tips to rid yourself of static, prevent damage and (you just can’t get enough of) homemade remedies.

To prevent static in your hair, use hair spray on your brush then brush through. Keep a sheet of fabric softener in your coat pocket and run it over your electrified hair gently. If you have highly textured hair, try a silicone-based styling cream to combat static and flyaway hair.

I tend to have hair like this on really dry days in winter. Does your skin dry out more in winter as well? If so, it's all the same problem. Basically what your hair needs is extra moisture. Look for a shampoo that is for "dry/damaged" hair. You could try the SunSilk line of shampoos, conditioners and styling products. Here's a link to the one for dry hair:

I've used the one for "poofy" and my best friend has used the "frizzy" one and swears by it.

Years ago women used VO5. Do they even make that anymore? Nowadays, just take a dab of conditioner, like Suave even, and run that through your hair to get rid of it. Or after you shampoo, and your hair is still wet, just take a dab and comb it thru and leave it in. You might have dry air in your house and need to get a humidifier as well.

Lightly run a dryer sheet (such as Bounce) over it. Works like a charm.
