Well by general standards i guess you could use that term. It is not unusual for any bird to do this. If the bird does it regularly after each egg it is probably lacking something in its diest. I suggest adding a cuttlebone to the cage for it to obtain calciuim .

If this is after sitting for a length of time in a hatching expectation it is possible the bird has detected an abnormailty in the egg development and will consume it or kick it out the nest. Other birds may then eat it.

Eggs are good food for birds, as well as people. No cannibalism there. My first tiel was especially fond of chicken. After I would start dinner, she'd hop around anxiously waiting for the food to get done. For our Amazon parrot, the best meal of the day is breakfast, hands down. He demands hash browns, toast, and eggs, just like the kids.

If they're eating the egg shells, that's normal because they need the calcium for making their own eggs. Birds do that in the wild. Plus, with the eggs that don't turn into babies, they will (in the wild) eat the eggs for the nutrients they need to feed their chicks.

No, it's a survival instinct. I have a pet duck that will lay eggs and eat them just for the calcium! All birds like to eat eggs. Boil some and chop them up and offer your bird some, they love them. Also, they love fresh broccoli, and warm veggies.

It's not really what you call cannibalistic. If it was, what would you call my birds eating chicken? It's natural for birds to be feeding on their eggs. They are unaware of this being their own meat.

No! The eggs are not fertilized! Feed him/her egg and eggshells, they need the calcium! When I had my Tiel she laid eggs all the time and a lot of the time she was Egg Bound and that is deadly, to solve this problem she needed more calcium for her own eggs. So I gave her eggs/egg shells.

To me, that's cannibalistic, but is it really bad? I don't think so.

Years ago I had a conure that loved to eat chicken.

properly, i think you are able to. I propose, you're able to take the comparable hazards as in case you had eaten your puppy rooster's eggs. (in case you had a puppy rooster) (save offered eggs circulate by alot of stuff to kill something that the egg could have which could make you unwell. commonly, the living house farmer with chickens dont do those issues) And it may take alot of eggs to make a astonishing omlette.
