My grandaughter was born with this condition...she is one yr old...had corrective surgery...now the doctor says she may never walk..may have to be in diapers for a long time and recently told my daughter her hearing may be affected...she has to take laxatives everyday...suffers chronic constipation...Please give me some insight

i think it is supposed to be in perforate anus.which means it was not open. usually they just d it soon after birth. the doctors did not notice my sons and only did this after 3 days. hmmm. i wonder if when in the womb there is a portion of time, or stage when this is supposed to happen. he also had an undescended testes so i do feel that it all works together. strange that the doctors have said all the other stuff. i am sorry to hear that. it is really difficult to cope with all of that in a child who is so young. if it was a perforated anus it sounds like there was a whole that opened somewhere else in the body. try natural brown sugar in her food and plenty of water. this will allow her stools to be more regular. my heart is with you and your daughter.
