I have a question about Genesis 6:4

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.(NIV)

Who was the Nephilim, the sons of God, the daughters of men, and the children of them?

Some angels came down from Heaven to have relations with women they had noticed. The resulting offspring are the Nephilim. These were all destroyed during the flood.

Bible commentators, considering verse 4, have offered several suggestions as to the identity of these Nephilim. Some have thought that the derivation of the name indicates that the Nephilim had fallen from heaven, that is, that they were ‘fallen angels’ who mated with women to produce “mighty ones . . . the men of fame.” Other scholars, focusing their attention particularly on the statement “and also after that” (vs 4), have said the Nephilim were not the ‘fallen angels’ or the “mighty ones,” since the Nephilim “proved to be in the earth in those days” before the sons of God had relations with women. These latter scholars hold the opinion that the Nephilim were simply wicked men like Cain—robbers, bullies, and tyrants who roamed the earth until they were destroyed by the Flood. Still another group, taking into consideration the context of verse 4, conclude that the Nephilim were not themselves angels, but were the hybrid offspring resulting from materialized angels having intercourse with the daughters of men.

The "Sons of God" were fallen angels.. In other words demons. It was a way to distinguish them from human beings.. There is a big debate about this among theologians.. Many people think that the demons had sex with woman and that is where the race of Giants came from....Hence Nephilim, or the "sons of Anakim" etc David and Goliath... Also there are Theologians that do not buy into to this and simply think that they were demons that had close contact and influence over humans....(The daughters of men were simply human females...) I hope this helped even though I know it didnt conclusively answer the question!

At the start of mankind, God sent angels, called watchers, to do just that, watch over us. Unfortunately, some of these angels lusted after the women, married them, and had babies, known as nephilim. These angles also taught things to the humans they weren't suppose to learn yet, they were not evolved enough, like weaponry, warfare, jewelry, etc., stuff we just weren't mentally ready for, and the nephilim continued these teachings from their angelic fathers. The nephilim were dangerous, stronger, bigger, and apparently bloodthirsty. A theory is that Noah's flood was to rid the world of the nephilim.

The Nephilim were the giant, violent offspring from the unnatural sexual relationships between the "Sons of God"-the angels, and the "daughters of men"-earthly women. The angels took human bodies for themselves, came to earth and lived with these wives, creating hybrid children. The wives and offspring were destroyed during the flood, at which time the angels shed their human bodies and returned to the heavens, though only temporarily. They were later ousted with the devil (Rev. 12:7-9)

Nephilim were supposedly the offspring of mortal women who had been seduced by fallen angels.

Nephilim also appear in The Book of Enoch and The Book of Jubilees, two non-canonical texts.

The Nephilim are described, in these texts, as giants, who depleted food sources and eventually turned and ate humans themselves. The purpose of the flood was supposedly to rid the world of the Nephilim.

However, in Jubilees it is stated that God saved 10% of the spirit of Nephilim from the flood, to remain on earth as demons to lead the human race astray until the day of judgment.

The nephilim were the offspring of the sexual union between fallen angels and the daughters of men.

You will find that there are two schools of thoughts on this.

There are preachers that believe the sons of God are fallen angels that had children of the daughters of men.

Other preachers, including myself, believe that they are sons of Seth, a righteous son of Adam, who had children of the daughters of men.
One of the reasons that we have been steadfast on this issue has to do with the scriptures saying there is no male or female in heaven.
That makes it appear that the angels are sexless.
That would mean they did not have the equipment to have children.

Someday we will know for sure, but we have to let scripture interpret scripture until that day.
