Why do most women prefer dating men that treat them like their personal possession these days?
Has being an outgoing, nice person with personality and spontaniety become boring?
Yes, I am basing this on past experiences. I go on one date with a woman and that's usually it. They seem interested, I act myself, but havent' dated anyone consistently for a few years now.

Ladies, what is it you want? Seriously? Im 26....am I supposed to compromise my dignity to become that Italian asshole you dream of? What's missing here?

None of you know me, so don't say it's my attitude. Thanks. It's late and im aggrevated my love life is going about as good as the general climate of this country under Bush. And that's pretty bad in of itself . Now the thing is.......I'm basing what im saying on 50 percent what im seeing too. Because everytime I tell myself, I am fine with who I am, I see couples EVERYWHERE. There's some blond girl with a guy with a piercing. Am I missing something?
Why are women saying im "awesome" but f*cking other men?

Oh, and one other thing? Don't judge me because im frustrated my love life sucks and I feel like everyone else is succeeding in their own and enjoying life. And don't play therapist and speak to me in a patronizing condescending manner.

well i'd like to start by saying this: women suck. I have been the nice guy who treats women right and gives them everything they want, but they always leave for the guy that bosses them around. I think it's some ancient desire to have the man take the lead and establish dominance over them. that or maybe they are all just flippin blind! You seem like a great guy who's been screwed over a couple of times, and i feel you on that. But here's the kicker... i know this is cliche but you WILL find the right woman eventually. this is where you are thinking "Arggg! no i won't! i'm done, maybe i should just be the mean guy" but don't. just stick in there brother and it will pay off eventually. (...i hope, lol, otherwise we are in the same boat). best of luck to you - your friend

Well assholes are fun sometimes, but you can't get serious with one, that's for sure...although some girls are that dumb. I've had a few assholes myself, and was enough to make me want to give up on the male population as a whole, and I did. Then I got dragged on a blind date and fell in love(long story, not my point) Anyway, the one-date thing, speaking from the other side of things, girls for the most part don't want to hurt a guy, so maybe we play it up like we like you more than you do and come on, you've probably done the same thing. Maybe you just haven't met somebody that you really 'click' with. Don't change who you are to be an asshole, Lord knows the world doesn't need anymore of those. I know it's easy to get a bad attitude about love and the like, so no judgments here and I'm doing my damndest to not be condecending but keep trying, moan and groan and do whatever the hell it takes you to get back on the horse and maybe you'll have better luck.

oh and PS--girls do NOT like being treated like a possession.

what makes you think that it is because you're not possessive that they don't like you?
personally i like a man who will take responsibility because i feel more secure. i feel comfortable with a possessive man but ONLY if he discharges the responsibility competently.
i will not tolerate a possesive man who is incompetent in handling his possession.
my guess is there is some other reason that you are missing why women don't come back after they are flattering to you.
for example sometimes i reallylike a guy a lot but the sex is not good so i never go back (even though i was interested in him before the sex)
or i hear him talk and realize he complains a lot or he is immature or he is bitter or some other characteristic i don't like that i didn't see before the more intimate conversation.
another thing is if he quibbles, argues or disagrees with everything i say or tries to solve my problems.
there are lots of reasons why i wouldn't date really attractive guys. like if they have lots of bad things to say about their parents for example.
you could test this idea by attempting to behave like the asshole you think women want and see if you have better luck.
i'm betting you would not have better luck because it's actually some other factor.

As a woman we often ask ourselves the same thing about men.

Both men & women seem to always want what they can't have. I know myself personally would LOVE to find someone who treats me with respect. But it seems I always wind up with the ones who treat me like ****...so then once I DO find a guy that treats me right, it feels like I don't deserve them because it's been put in my head previously that "No one will love you like I do".

It's a revolving circle. I think both men & women expect to much. Just take it day to day...eventually you'll find the person you are looking for...silly enough it's probably been the ONE person that's been in sight the whole time...you just never noticed!!

Best of luck to ya! :)

Many young women have the false idea that their looks are the most important thing in their lives. They haven't spent enough time learning how to be a real person. Therefore, when they begin to date, they think that the strong, surly type (a young man who is very unsure of himself) who is possessive is behaving that way because of them. That validates them. Makes them feel wanted and important.

It's a hard puzzle and I have no idea how to solve it. I realize this did not answer your question, but with today's young women, who does have the answer?

Don't know about "most women," but I, for one, have always preferred guys like you. My problem is that I've always attracted the macho he-man types - I have no clue why. But I've managed to avoid the problem of dating them.

Maybe it's the sort of women you're attracted to in the first place? Do you look for the gorgeous girls who are looking for the macho types? Maybe you could try going out with an average girl-next-door type. Maybe you can change your luck by going out with someone more like YOU.

It's not that women prefer that, they just get sucked in and it's difficult to get out.

I dated a controlling guy but I didn't realize it until it was too late. I barely got out of that one in one piece. I had to file a police report and get a restraining order.

I certainly do not want to go through such an ordeal ever again.
