why would I go by bottled water that might have come from a tap from somewhere else (yes bottled water can be tap water)

Why? It costs about 5 bucks a gallon! Why do people pay so much for something they can get virtually free?
"20/20" took five bottles of national brands of bottled water and a sample of tap water from a drinking fountain in the middle of New York City and sent them to microbiologist Aaron Margolin of the University of New Hampshire to test for bacteria that can make you sick, like e. coli.

"There was actually no difference between the New York City tap water and the bottled waters that we evaluated," he said.

Many scientists have run tests like that and have consistently found that tap water is as good for you as bottled waters that cost 500 times more.

A Brita pitcher is what I use and the water tastes a lot better, and cheaper than buying water. Be sure to change the filter at least every 3 months. It all depends how much water you drink and how much wear you get from the filter.

Well it's a myth that bottled water is cleaner than tap water.
Tap water just tastes bad because it has chlorine in it to kill bacteria.
I would say that a Brita filter or something of that sort would be the cleanest and that's only because you'd be the one cleaning it yourself.

Probably filtered tap water because most tap waters are better than bottled waters, and filtering it would be even better.

I saw a special where most bottled waters were actually full of bacteria and vastly inferior to city and county tap water.

During a water scare a few years back, I was boiling my water, bottling it in sanitised containers and allowing it to cool.

I just used baby bottle cleansing tablets in recycled soft drink bottles.

I was even using small amounts to swish around my mouth and spit out while cleaning my teeth.

I do enjoy my normal tap water on a daily basis usually, mine has flouride in it for strong, healthy teeth, which you won't find in most of the other types of water.

I for one can't believe some people think things in the U.S.A. are safe! I guess we never heard of the ecoli problems in spinach and salad and hamburgers! What, you people think were safe in the good old U.S.of A. from food or drink problems? Please give me a break! If you only knew just what your food producers were doing right now! Have you noticed the high sodium nitrate content of the hot dogs? That's for a reason! As for the water, get a test kit and check it your self for chemicals and bacteria and be your own judge!
