My meat was med/rare. It had a funny taste, but it was also seasoned. If it was bad, can I get worms from it? What kind of worms? What are the other problems with bad meat?

if it was bad meat, you might might might get tapeworms. tapeworms eat all your food but you probably wouldnt know they are their unless you were losing weight very fast for no reason. tapeworms can be removed though by doctor's visit.

Beef that has been seared on the outside is generally safe to eat. If the beef was inspected by USDA (which it has to be in order to be sold commercially in the us) there is little chance that it has been contaminated by anything. Also beef has a LONG shelf life. I cut beef regularly and have never...ever...seen a piece of beef go bad. If it were bad...you would know it. More than likely the seasonings on it was what gave you the funny taste. Sometimes too restaurants age their beef and that can give it a different taste. Another thing is the grade of beef. Sometimes if you have a select grade of beef, it can be tougher and from an older cow and can also have a funny taste. Or it could have been from a male cow. With pork you can smell the difference in the meat when it comes from an old male pig verses a younger female pig. I really wouldn't worry about it. However if you do start to feel sick...and you are worried about it, go to the Dr. its better to get some piece of mind then lay away worrying about it all night.

Did you get diarrhea or vomit? Did you get it in a restaurant? Was it beef, pork, lamb or??? You can get trichinosis from eating pork not cooked to the proper temperature. Tape worms are found in spoiled meat...E-coli can be found on meat that has not be processed in sanitary conditions, but not only meat can be effected, salmonella can be gotten from eggs, poultry. Basically, most spoiled meat will give you diarrhea, nausea (vomiting), you can get a fever etc. Botulism poisoning (the bacteria is the deadliest known to mankind) kills. So if you had this in a restaurant, I would be calling the local health dept. and raising hell.
