The Baking Powder should have an experation date on it, in storage it's good for 18 months sealed in a container, Baking Soda has no date on it and is good for 2 years, sealed in a container. If you don't remember when you bought the 2 products then it might be a good time to replace them.

It depends on when you got it. If you got it about a year ago the baking soda is still good if it was not open or refrigerated, The baking soda usually goes in about 2 years...hope that helps

Try putting it in vinegar. It should foam up a lot if it is still good! Just don't cover it or put in a confined area as it will explode under pressure.

Put a spoonful into a glass of water and see it there is any reaction. If not, throw it out.

They are both inexpensive items....if either has been open to the air for more than one month, throw them away and buy new ones.

Make something with it. If it tastes good, it's still good!
But seriously folks... Does it look OK? Does it smell OK? If so, it's probably OK.
