my question is ,besides the ovious{with the breast} what are other early signs of cancer?

Registered Nurse here; There are not any early warning signs, that's why self breast examination, yearly exam by gyn, and mammograms are so very important. Hopefully it's a cyst, or enlarged mammary gland. However, whatever it is you have caught it in the earliest stage and will be fine. Don't miss an appointment. Chances are strongly in your favor that the abnormality found is benign. Again if not, you have caught it early.

Remember that mammogram is the screening test for breast cancer, but not the definitive test. Get the definitive diagnosis by getting a Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy(FNAB) or Core Needle biopsy.
Early signs of breast cancer, actually is a lump on the breast, but may also include discharge, dimpling of the skin, and other skin changes.
Late signs of (breast) cancer will include bone pain, weight loss, loss of appetite.
If you get a "bad" mammogram result, this is good in a way. That means they may have caught a possible invasive cancer EARLY, and you have a very high percentage cure rate if treatment will be initiated immediately

I assume you will be having an ultrasound. From the ultrasound results, they will decide if you need a biopsy. If you see any indecision at all amongst your doctors, choose to have the biopsy. It is the only way to get a definite diagnosis of breast cancer. The earlier breast cancer is caught, the better your chances of survival. Be strong!
And c4silly- they cannot tell for sure whether a something is benign or not without doing a biopsy. You shouldn't wait that long- demand a biopsy now- it could save your life.

Try not to worry. I had a spot found on my mammo 2 yrs ago. They took an extra picture and did an ultrasound. Six mos later they did another mammo of that breast, then 6 mos after that my yearly for both breasts. Apparently it's been fine since because I'm back on my yearly mammo track (I'm 42).
I hope this is nothing for you...be strong...educate yourself. Information is the best thing you can be armed with!

Did they say "cancer"? Back in march I was diagnosed with a lump through mammo, and was sent for ultrasound. I have to go back every 6 months for them to do repeat mammogram and ultrasound to keep watch for any signs of growth. They're telling me it's benign at this point.

You don't know, what it is, because they need to do more testing. Sounds like it is not cancer. Radiologist can actually see on the mammogram if it is cancer or not. Of course they can't tell you that until it shows on the test. They can say it looks suspicious.

What does "bad" mean? Obviously they didn't say cancer or you wouldn't be asking this. Let them do their testing before you get upset. There are no early symptoms of cancer. That's why it can be so deadly. Trust me.

Tiredeness weak etc. Get a Doctor to explain the sypmtoms.

I would go to a doctor right away. My best friend recently died of Breast Cancer because she waited too long. Please, go do it, for your family, loved ones, and yourself.
