I have long straight hair that is slightly layered. I usually wear it down, but have heard that it is best to keep your hair pulled back for an interview becuase it looks more professional. The problem is that I think my hair looks kinda plain when it's pulled back. Any suggestions about how I could wear it?

Hi. I know what you mean. My hair is long, straight, and slightly layered too. I don't like it pulled back either. In this case though, I think it would look the most professional. I'd pull it back into a LOW semi-loose ponytail and accessorize with a beautiful silver or black clip (depending on your hair color). I think that would look professional but not too severe. Good luck!

It is the preferred and recommended look for an important meeting or interview.

plain and simple is good. It shows that you're down to business and arn't going to spend alot of time trying to make your hair look amazing... and less time on other, more important things.

A smooth ponytail is good, but I suggest if you have long hair as you said, you could try a simple bun.

Also, make sure there arn't any stray bangs to fall in your face. It will annoy you AND the person you're conversing with, and distract you both.

Just play around a bit and see what you like, see what looks good!

I prep people for interviews for a living and can honestly tell you that bottom line is that you have to wear your hair in style that you will feel most confident and secure with. When attempting to ace an important interview it is probably not the best idea or time to try a new updo that you are not accustomed to as you may potentially get fidgety and not an confident as you normally would be. Besides it sounds like you have a decent professional hairstyle in play already! Dress to impress and be yourself! Good luck!

personally, I think a bun is too uptight & old fashioned, and a ponytail is too casual.
I would go with a french braid, it's neat, businesslike, and still attractive. Use a small elastic holder at the end of the braid, in a color near your hair color, no scrunchies, or colorful ties. You can leave a small section at either side in the "sideburn" area to make curled tendrils to soften the look around the face if you feel the "skinned back" look is too harsh for your face, or curl and fluff the bangs a bit, but don't overdo the frilliness.

it all depends on what type of job you're interviewing for... the most important thing is that you're comfortable during the interview -- this way, you can let your natural charm and competence shine through. in most companies today, you don't necessarily have to be ultra-conservative (ie: hair pulled back) to be considered a viable candidate... whatever you decide to do, just make sure that it's well groomed so that your hair's not a distraction and your ability to do the job will be what the interviewer remembers!

How about a part on the side, but tucked behind the ears to look serious. Try a straighter to look young and shine. I think the bun would be alittle too serious and the ponytail too casual. Good luck on the interview.

that is my opinion that you position on you hair up for a job interview. that is extra polished and specialist while letting your hair "bypass" would provide the interviewer a lot less of an impact about you. They no longer in user-friendly words pay interest to the way you answer questions, yet also your visual attraction is an truly huge component.

i think if you pull your hair back into a nice slick bun or a decorative clip could make it not so plain jane but if your hair is nice and sleek your boss will take you seriously maybe you could add a barrette or some sort of hair accessories to jazz it up =)

You should wear it in a bun with some detail
like a flower,a nice clip or a bow all of those would look very nice
so it isnt so plain
or just look in some mags
they might have some ideas
