A human being wouldn't believe in Evolution if it hadn't been proven to them.

Atheism is a response to the belief of most organized religions that there is a supreme being called God, Yahweh, Allah or some other name.

Evolution is a question of science and an explanation for how species have changed over generations. The issue of the existence of a supreme being has nothing to do with the validity of this scientific theory.

Some try to link atheism and evolution because of their specific belief in a literal reading of Genesis. Most Christians do not read the Bible so literally, so they have no trouble with evolution.

I know an atheist who doesn't accept evolution. He claims that there actually isn't as much evidence as people claim, and that evolution "will probably be replaced by some other theory down the road." I guess he doesn't accept any theory right now. I personally don't agree with his standpoint, but that's what he thinks anyway.

i've known at least two atheists who didn't believe in evolution. one beleived life came from space aliens (i'm not sure if he meant human life or all earth life. sounds suspiciously like a belief in some "god", or something like a god, as causing human life.) the other fellow was a true atheist, i think, and was a former xtian preacher, but didn't believe in evolution. he thought that if it were true, then there should be several species of humans. i tried to argue with him, but he didn't want to listen. it takes all kinds!

Evolution is the best theory we have now. It's based on a number of facts, and proven to be true.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if in 10,000 years, people will laugh at us for ever believing Evolution to be true. In the end, when we gain more and more knowledge, there might be a whole different theory. Who knows...

An Atheist is simply a person who does not believe in god. Anything else that he believes or disbelieves is irrelevent to his being an Atheist. Maybe he just hasn't studied enough about it to come to a conclusion. The absurdity of god stands on its own lack of merit. You don't have to have found an alternative to realize that.

It's not necessary to accept evolution to be an atheist. There doesn't need to be an alternative either.

Even if evolution is someday proven completely wrong (and no one has come close yet), that doesn't automatically mean that god did it. It just means we don't know how it happened yet. And evolution will never be thrown out of science until we have something else to replace it with - something that works better. And creationism doesn't do anything for us.

I'm puzzled by that too. But I would agree that one does not mandate the other. As for the alternative, I guess there's always the belief in aliens from another dimension or something like that. Don't know.
