Ok go to start menu, all programs, accessories, Near the bottom of that list you find System tools menu in that you find Disk Defragmenter. If your computer is very slow then you get your self a Spyware remover tool and check for spyware and also do a virus scan. Do u have enough memory because the XP systems require at least 1 GB of memory to run smooth.

You can also remove cookies and temporary internet files.

Click on start, go to your control panel and then to internet options.
Click on delete cookies and then click on delete files and it will ask you if you want to delete all files in temp internet..... click on yes. you can also click on clear history below that. I drug mine to my desk top and use it regularly.
Something else people never think about is cleaning the inside of your computer.
Remove the cover after turning off the power of course, and get a couple cans of air and blow off the fan on your CPU and the fan at the power supply.
I have seen people actually throw computers away because of this issue. I clean mine out every two to three months. Computers need to stay cool to run effectively.

It's part of Windows, just click on "Help" and it will tell you how. But it's found under "Start" then "Control Panel" then "Administration" or Disk Administration" then look for the "Disk Defragmenter" icon.
