I read to only exfoliate every 3 nights. I would do whatever works for you though. If your skin is red and tender, I'd take a break. If not, it must be working for your skin type.

It's rough on your skin to exfoliate every day. Even if you don't notice it, exfoliating too often can cause your pores to tear, which can give you bad effects later on.
Chemical exfoliants are best, since the grainy scrubs move bacteria around without actually removing it. Alpha Hydroxy is a good ingredient that exfoliates the skin without being too abrasive. Alpha Hydroxy products can be found at drugstores (I've seen it at Walgreens) and Ulta. Use it as often as the directions say.
If you absolutley must use a grainy scrub, make sure you are using it before washing your face (so the cleanser can help remove residue and bacteria), and once a week if you have dry/sensitive skin, and 2-3 times a week if you have oily skin. If you have normal or combo skin try it 1-2 times a week.
Good luck and don't forget to moisturize!

Yes it is bad to exfoliate every night because it wears down your skin. I'm sure it won't kill you, it just isn't healthy for your skin. It is healthy to exfoliate 1-3 times a week.

You are not suppose to exfoliate every day. It can cause skin irritation and can make your skin dry. Exfoliate 2-3x a week.
