which is said to contain something that speeds digestion. But today I bought a book called You on a Diet which seems to be more about educating people on how to "diet" by simply eating right and allowing your body and brain to do what it has to do. Anyways, it said that fiber can help you lose weight as it helps you to feel full longer because it slows digestion.

Now I am confused. Activia is not supposed to make you lose weight but I would think that if it speeds digestion it would make you feel better and get rid of waste faster thus in some way helping me to lose weight in a healthy way. It seems like slowing digestion would make me feel sluggish & affect my body in a negative way as waste would sit for longer... So my question is should I stop eating the yogurt and start eating more fiber? Or does the yogurt come into play after the food is not food anymore and the fiber gets it to that point? Will they work together or counteract eachother?

Advertisers are confusing you on purpose. The yogurt and fiber will work together. The most important part of Activa is the calcium.

The acidolphus and whatever else bacterias may be good for you, but calcium is absolutely essential. The admen claim that the "live active cultures" boost your immune system. In reality, only people who are on anti-biotics are in dire need of more bacteria in their colon. Also, if you are prone to yeast overgrowth, the live bacteria in yogurt helps prevent the yeast from taking over.

Fiber is funny. Too little fiber can just about stop the plumbing altogether. This is when things build up in your system and you feel loaggy. Too much fiber can cause gas, bloating, and unpleasant bowel movements. The bacteria in your colon can digest fiber and that produces methane. The right amount of fiber will add bulk to the food passing through your intestines and make nutrients, like calcium, easier to absorb.

Don't just start adding tons of fiber; you have to slowly increase the amount so your body adjusts. And, by that I mean, so you are harboring the right number of the right kind of bacteria to keep from making yourself miserable.

Yogurt is often too high in calories to make for a good food during active weighloss. It's better for maintenance. Either way, look for any yogurt less than 100 calories per moderate serving if you have weight problems.

Also, I've heard some really great things about the You series.

Activia is meant to restore good bacteria in your digestive track. A lot of people lose this bacteria because they have poor diets or take a lot of antibiotics. The bacteria is important for digestion and absorption of vitamins and minerals.
Fiber, on the other hand, has different benefits. It can make you feel more full, lower cholesterol, and help to clean out excess in your digestive track (any old junk that got stuck there, such as the bad bacteria that may have built up). Fiber often times helps with weight loss because it makes you feel full with less calories, and it also removes some extra baggage from your system.
Therefore, both of these items in your diet will prove beneficial. I ate Activia for two weeks everyday and I felt so great! I am only 28 and thought it was for older people or people with real digestive problems, but now I think that it is good for anyone.

Activia is a ok but nearly all plain yogurt has healthy bacteria in it to aid in digestion, and keep the colon healthy. Continue to eat it, but you can buy regular plain yogurt.
Fiber is to add bulk to the stool and "move out" waste. Eat a lot of fiber. Both are healthy
