Why do Christians attend church on Sunday, when the Bible clearly states in Genesis 2 and also in Exodus 20 that Saturday the seventh day of the week is the holy day? The Bible is what guides Christians on their path to be closer to God. So why go against what it says?

Okay, I see what some people are saying. But all I'm hearing is what man assumes God wanted. There is no where in the entire Bible where God declares any changes. Also I've read in th past about the Pope changing the day from Saturday to Sunday. So unless your Catholic why should any church follow anything he says?

Jesus appeared resurrected on Sunday
Jesus appeared on Sunday the week after
The HOly SPirit came on Pentacost, a Sunday
The last book of the Bibloe was given on a Sunday
The apolstle Paul asked for a collection for the needy every Sunday
Euticus fell out of the window on a SUnday as Paul spoke

sounds like.. a good reasons..

this is not an essential belief although I think it is true... there is room for disagreement based on concience and the very most important Sabbath is is not a day but enterring into the rest of faith, glorifying God, leaning on the work of Jesus on the Cross, believing for eternal life

Two reasons
Historically, Christians began to worship on the first day because it was the first work day and they wanted to put God first in their lives in everything.
Christians do it today because the disciples met on the first day of the week according to the Bible. Some churches have communion every first day of the week like the early Christians did.

Because the Roman Emperor passed the Edict of Milan to make all religion in the Empire worship on the Day that was set aside for worship of the Sun and the Sun God Zeus who is the God of Gods and the Father of Gods and men.

Jesus was named as the combination of Jah and Zeus and the son of Zeus.

Saturday is not the Seventh Day because Saturday is named after Saturn and begins and ends at midnight while the Seventh Day, the Sabbath, begins and ends at sunset and is not of the solar year that is followed by pagans, but of the lunar year.

Christians are pagans and do not know it or refuse to admit it.

Because Jesus rose on Sunday (Mark 16:9), and that was the day the early Christians gathered together (Acts 20:7).

"KJV: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:" Colossions 2:16
I consider Sunday the seventh day of the week on the calender even though others put it first. God rested on the seventh day and we return back to work on Monday. God never convicted me of worshiping on Sunday either. He is worthy of all praise. I regard that day as the sabbath although man has messed with different calenders and there are those atheists and anti-Christ spirits moving even now to remove the references of B.C. and A.D. from our history references. I think if we regard that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, that whenever and wherever we set aside a day to withdraw from our usual labors and to worship the Lord in, if we are gathered two or three in His name, Jesus will be there as He is Lord of the Sabbath.
{KJV: He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.[read all of Romans 14] }
If we regard every day as the Lord's, I don't see any harm in it just because the Roman Catholic Church has swayed entire civilizations and calender and holidays like Christmas, etc. doesn't mean I go along with it. It's like meat offered to idols. To me it's just meat for the belly and the belly for meats and to the pure all things are pure. It's not wrong to do good on any day of the week. Many of our people have services on Saturday evening as well so maybe that's a throw back from when they were better acquainted with history and traditions. Building a doctrine around a tradition, albeit a good one, isn't the central focus of worshiping God in spirit and in truth. I don't consider this direct disobedience. I prioritize and simply love to be in church every morning and evening during campmeetings or every evening during revivals so the first commandment is being fulfilled by loving the Lord my God with all my heart soul mind and strength and desiring to be in and live in His presence and gather with His people all the more often as we see the day of His appearing upon us. To love the brethren, our neighbor as ourselves and to remember the Lord's death often in these last days is keeping me quite busy trying to fulfil those laws of God. Everything else falls into place as the whole law hangs on those first two commandments. Raising animals, my ox is always in the ditch on the day I consider the Sabbath so how do you get around that one? I don't remember Jesus limiting His healings and miracles and soul saving power to the Sabbath (or the synagogue) alone do you??

See the NEW TESTAMENT for the answer to your question which reveals how little you know about the Bible. You might want to try reading THE ENTIRE BIBLE before you assume you know what is right and what is error.

You are in error because you do NOT know the scriptures.

hint SUNDAY IS THE LORD'S DAY!

It doesn't make any difference on what day of the week they meet. They meet so they can fellowship with fellow believers and worship God. They draw strength from each other.

It was the decision of one of the popes, one of the Gregory's in the 4th or 5th century who decreed that the sabbath should be celebrated on Sunday, to distinguish it from the Jewish abbath, which was observed on Saturday.
