My grandmother says this about her kids, that she loved and raised them and now they don't care about her, but the more complete picture is she cared about herself all their growing up and didn't really love them, if loving is giving what your beloved needs/wants. She was emotionally abusive, intellectually and socially neglectful, and created chaos in the home with her emotional problems. She doesn't understand why her kids don't care for her, but they do. It's heartbreaking all the way around. On the other hand, if your kids are well raised and just young and self-centered, let them know what you'd like from them. If they do love you, they will care and make some accomodations. But, they can't read your mind.

Well..

your kids only get like that when it comes to teen years. =[ its the honest truth. i do admit, that i give my mother a hard time, when its hard enough for her to raise 2 children on her own. See, us teens feel like that you parents are trying to take over our life. that we dont have enough freedom, that you dont trust us. that life isnt fair. we dont mean anything by it, but it gets alot harder in teen years. [ we know that yall have been there once, but we still cant picture it.] because, now it comes to, relationships, things happening at school we're probably not telling you about. Some are scared to tell parents things, about our problems. Deep down, even if we dont show it, we really do love you. and if we hurt you, we seriously dont mean anything by it. we dont think before we do something, we just do it without thinking...just keep that in mind.

Yes, sadly both my boys do. I only have the two. They never call or check to see if I am alive. They won't answer my emails. I could see if I were a bad parent or a crack whore. But I am not. I sacrificed everything for them. I wish I knew what to do. I am not elderly. I am still young.

Don't have kids, but have lots of friends who do. I've noticed that the lack of respect comes from being raised as spoiled brats.

Yes, but I see that with all of my friends children too. I'm hoping it is a passing fad that will fade. But if you sit back and look at your community as a whole it is pretty doubtful that it will.

I have 1 daughter and she loves me, and she shows it. I also have 2 stepchildren who have always hated me. it's because their Mom would never allow them to get close to me. Everytime I tried, she would raise hell.
