i think that you should go for the better one. if you already know that the public school is a bad school, then why send your child to it? she might get bullied by an older, bigger kid, or she might not learn much in school since the teachers ditch. i know that you dont want her to turn out as a bad child. so even though private school does cost more, you are paying for her safety and so that she can turn into a respectful person. dont just settle for a bad public school just so you can save money. do whats best for both you and your child.

While it is great that you care about your daughter's education, a rarity these days, a private school is not necessarily the best option. Of course I may be biased, being that I am a public school teacher; however, you will find that even in the poorest counties, in the most rural of areas, you will find the richest diversity of teachers and students. Also, public schools are generally in the forefront of educational research and practice, so your daughter would receive the most current, research-based instruction to help her be successful. Private schools may offer smaller class sizes and more rigid curriculum, but you may lose the benefit that a committed teacher and a diverse educational experience will offer your child. Take a trip to a public school as a visitor and you will see that most teachers educate because they have a life-long love of learning. Ask your daughter how she feels and you may see that a public school is the best option for both of you. Thank you for reading this far :o)

It would also depend on the private school you are looking at. It is hard to find a private school that will actually provide an excellent education. You should put much research into the school especially if you're going to spend your precious money. I would say the things to look at are the standardized test scores of the children attending the school if they release that kind of information, the afterschool programs, and the regular things one would look at. If the school is really good it will be the kind to build the self-esteem of children. Good luck and I think it's great you are putting a lot of thought about your daughter's education!

How about a charter school in your area. They're free just like a public school, but are privately funded through another source by the state (different from the PSS), they will usually have excellent skilled teachers and small size classrooms where the teacher and students can interact better.

Yes. at a private school (i go to a catholic and i also attend public one day a week for the advanced program) the kids there are generally smarter and less rough. im not sure about ur area, but the kids at private schools here get better educations and more attention from their teachers. at the public schools here, it is really rough and i think they go too easy on the students. (PS- the lunches at private schools are better than public, 2!)

Private schools are no better than public schools. Private schools have NO after school activities. I went to a private school until the 6th grade, I know.

I'm in the same boat here. Poorer area, crowded schools, bad academics. Private schools are a HUGE strain on the budget, so I'm investigating charter schools! Some of them are online home schools, some of them are like regular schools with different rules. They are tuition free :-)

I am a teacher myself and my daughter goes to private (Catholic) school. I know first-hand what goes on in public schools and I don't want her being exposed to all of that. It is worth the sacrifices I make every day for her to go to her school.

definitely...in other cases i'd say that public schools are sometimes better than private schools despite all the hoopla the private schools get..but yourpublic school is not of them at all.

I would love to send my kids to a religious school. But it would have to be one that taught strictly from the Bible, not a Catholics school. But that's impossible for me, I live in Rural America and there is no such thing way out here.
When choosing a religious school one would have to be very careful to choose the right one, or that could turn out tragic for your children.
I would choose a Commandment keeping school, that taught the religion part strictly from the Bible and uses it as there only Creed.
Good luck & God Bless !
