I use the Tidy Cat Crystals. You can buy a jug of just the Crystals and use however much or little you need to in the box. I also sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda in the box. Mix all that together and you have the perfect litter, lol. I have two cats and two boxes and it works great!
Also, the person above is right with the food. If you buy the cheap food from the grocery store then the animal will go more and it does stink more. If you buy the more expensive food, on avg it is usually about $30 for a 20lb bag, then you actually don't have to feed them as much. For ex: with our cats, I was buying a $7 bag of food from the store about once a week for my cats. My vet said to switch to a high quality brand and when I saw the price about choked. But, the $30 bag will last me about two-two and a half MONTHS! Because the higher quality brand doesn't have the fillers that store brands do, the cat eats less (and therefore poops less) and is in much better health, which will save you in vet bills down the road. So, with the more expensive brand, you actually spend less in the long run. - Just be careful, some brands have gone really commercial, like IAMS. They started selling their brand in the grocery stores for not much less then when they were in the pet stores and it is crap now. They switched their recipe and now have just as much junk filler in it as Friskies. Just remember more filler equals more poop. Ask your vet, but I can suggest Nature's Recipe or California Natural. I have a kitty with a touchy tummy and he doesn't throw these up.
Hope this helps!!

Well there's 2 things you should do. They shouldn't be stinking up the room that bad, cats are not like that. You need to feed them a quality food.Felidae is a good way to end the smell problem totally. It's pricey and only at specialty stores, but it's totally worth it. I have 6 cats and room for only 2 litter boxes, so i know how much smell means lol!! Secondly, you can purchase scented trash bags. They are those dollar store brand, cheap garbage bags, but they are scented. They work and well and make SURE you have a trash can that is covered for the litter bags. You can also buy a neutral smelling deodorizer for the bottom of the trash can. Good Luck! Hope I was of some help!

Hi Catherine...consider the following techniques to help lower the odours emanating from a litter box:
- use a covered litter box to trap odours better with an included charcoal filter (change filter often)
- scoop daily at least a couple times a day
- use multi-cat litter formulas
- add a little bit of baking soda to the litter
- add a stick-on air freshner

There is a thing with pets....they do have an odor...I just realize this is part of owning a pet. Use scoopable liter and clean twice a day. Get an airfreshener for the room the liter box is in. OR: How long have you had your cat? Is the smell something that has recently changed? Maybe your cat is eating something new?

There is this type of cat litter that won't smell for 3 weeks its called Feline Pine. Its a green bag with a picture of a orange cat on it.It won't stink for days and you only need a inch of it in your litter box because when your cat uses it it swells up.I use it for my cat.

I buy the cat litter with baking soda, and I also add extra baking soda to their litter. I also have to scoop it every single day, and sometimes twice a day. There's no magic trick to keeping a cat box totally odor free, but you can keep it down a bit. Good luck :)

YOu may have to scoop several times a day. Also, check the food that you are feeding your cat. If you are feeding your cat a low grade food, he is getting lots of fillers and that can make their poo stink bad. So you need to go with a much better grade food.

Tidy cat crystals or the scoopable poop litter. You have to change your cat box often. When your cat poops get out the scoop.~ If you don't clean it the cat will find other places to do it's business. Cat's like a tidy cat box.

I have 8 cats & the best thing I've found is plain baking soda mixed in the litter (I use cheap clay litter).

Clean the box every day, and put a layer of Baking Soda on the bottom of the tray to help absorb odors.
