I don't know what the government is doing.........they put the roadside bombs in the same places......they attack from the same places........the convoys take the same routes and leave at the same times, the insurgents also know these routes and times.....and the military knows all of this....and DOES NOTHING. This has been going on for a while now. I'm in Iraq, and I can tell you that I know this for a fact.

Sounds simple enough, but Iraq is a big country! I often thought that all the vehicles we have in Iraq are off the road capable, why not slow down a bit and avoid road side bombs by driving off road. After giving this some thought, I realize that they do take to the boonies, just for that reason.

Cloud cover has been an obstacle for the spy in the sky too, so there is no complete answer for any of the defenses needed to reduce our casualty rate in Iraq.

They have satellite that can do this, but how long would it take to scan hundred of mile to see what is going . But there would be to much ground to cover so you would to record the satellite feed and then have hundreds of people scan them. So the bombs would blown up before you could find them, so this would be a waste of time.

Satellites aren't static. They're constantly moving and have their own orbit. Throughout any 24-hour timespan they are only over an area for a few minutes. So that makes it difficult to constantly monitor something, especially if it's underground.

No, they hide them. That's one reason why they're dangerous. Think land mines.
