Amy is almost correct. Washington D.C. is not a state, but radar detectors are illegal there, along with Virginia. They are not legal in any state in a Commercial (CDL) vehicle by Federal law.

There are only two states in which radar detectors are illegal. They are Virginia and Washington DC

Scramblers are illegal in California and 7 other states.
