My sister thinks that I do not visit her young children enough.

If you like your relatives, than as often as is economically feasible. I saw my oldest brother's family at Christmas, but hadn't seen them since before my son was born, and he's 2 1/2. I would have loved to see them more, but neither one of us could afford the trip.

If you can't stand the kids, than once a year may be too often. I can't stand my sister's son, but I end up seeing him three or four times a year, which is more than I would like. I don't let it bother me since I really do like seeing my sister.

So basically, if you can't afford to see your sister and her family often, let her know you would like to, but the money isn't there.

Suggest to her that if she wants her kids to see you more often, she could come visit you, instead of you always having to go to her.

I think it just depends honestly for some people it’s not in the budget. If your sister is so concerned perhaps she can come visit you depending if the kids are in school etc. If you can't visit much for whatever reason you could send letters or email
