OK, America has a problem. We send out good responsible family members over to Iraq to fight for WHAT?

We have perfectly good gang members who already know how to "pop a cap" and who don't care if they die killing other people.

If that's what we need is to get rid of the enemy...why aren't we sending over the people that are BEST qualified?

I saw that more than 20 more soldiers died today. Will any of them TRULY be remembered? By family, yes...by the government they served...they were only numbers. God Bless them all.

I agree with your sentiments about the lost troops. But I disagree about gang members. Serving in the military is and should always be a honor, not a punishment. And I certainly don't want to arm a bunch of criminals. I would worry about any officer who had to lead armed murderers into combat. No discipline, no honor. If given an order, they will just a quickly kill the officer as carry out the order.

Serving is a privilege.

What an interesting thought, I think it would be difficult to do this since there is no control of gangs. But still a good idea.

As for will any of them be remembered, I truly hope so. I feel so sorry at the loss of all the lives, and what continues to bother me is these people are someones Mom or someones Dad, some little child will never see their parents again. I agree, God Bless them all.

Gang members can't get along with anyone, that's why they're in a gang in the first place so they can kill one another for looking at them the wrong way. They'd be horrible soldiers because their egos would prevent them from dealing with the politics of being in the military.

Becaue they lack DISCIPLINE, have NO value for human life and do what they do for THEM! Not a good combo for combat military.

Gang members would be a "loose canon" that would just inflame the civilians and put more pressure on the HONORABLE TROOPS" to clean up their mess.

Without their "homeys" they would probably go AWOL in the SH** and attempt to start a drug trade.

It has been almost 40 years and I still think about those lost in NAM on a daily basis. NOT a stereotypical NAM VET, but I salute them EVERY DAY.

You know, I've asked a similar question. Why can't we send convicted felons? Shave some time off your sentence, serve some time in the military. Give something back to the Country that you live in. Heck, send the murderers and child abusers over there since most of them seem to have anger management problems anyway.

No, many of the gang members probably wouldn't listen to orders here anyway. Besides, I'd rather them stay at home, in case we need them at home. Unless they do something about our border situation, I'm afraid eventually we'll have to depend on them.

Because they would worsen the problem.

This is not a hot war where enemy is obvious. Its complex power struggle.

The gang members would piss themselves and sit crying behind the trucks.
