There probably isn't a lot you can do about it. Gossips never seem to get the message.
I would simply take myself out of his sphere of influence or wagging tongue, family member or not. Gossips and liars can make more trouble than anything or anyone else. There will, of course, be times when it is unavoidable to be around him. If he comes over to you and wants to gossip, tell him you would rather not know, and leave. Best to stay clear of toxic people.
Good luck

Next time he carries a tale to you, simply say, I'm sure glad I'm not on your bad list the way you always talk about people. Tell him with humor that he is worse than a little old lady with his gossip.

Yes I suggest you get everybody together and let them know this person is running his mouth.Of course when you confront him he will deny everything. But let me tell you what worked for me.I sent a letter from an attorney telling my cousin if she says one more thing and it's slander she is going to be sued.THAT STOP that Crap..Although we don't speak anymore good for me cause there ain't no more drama.

Ignore him, don't acknowledge him and tell your family members to do the same. No one needs someone like that in their family. He thrives on gossip. He needs to grow up.

Confront him at a family gathering, chances are if you are sick of it, so are some of your other relatives. Make sure you tell him he needs to STOP because he's undermining the family ---family should stick together, blood is thicker than water.
