they are two very different types of salts which in the case of Epsom salts is a misnomer for which it has no "salt" at all just the appearance. the salt that you use on food is potassium chloride, as the Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate. you cannot use Epsom salts in place of regular salt to use on food. and other
than gargling with regular salt in the case of a sore throat (helps to constrict the vessels in the throat reducing the soreness) it has no real medicinal value as far as applying it to cuts.
as long as you do not have a deep wound (less than 1/8 deep and no longer than 2 inches) ibuprofen (Advil) or ancetometophen(Tylenol) should reduce the swelling as well as keeping the wound
clean (meaning that you clean the wound with proper procedures
ie; alcohol, iodine, antibacterial, etc) and using a proper dressing.

Epsom salts is made from the mineral magnesium sulfate.
Epsom salts reduce swelling and improve drainage. It is more gentle and slower acting. If you're concerned about soreness, epsom salts will probably be better.

Table salt is sodium chloride. You can use it to heal a cut, but it's gonna hurt A LOT more than epsom salts. Basically what table salt does is to eat the necrotic skin around the wound so that fresh skin is available for healing. It works faster, but it really hurts.
