How old is your son? My son is 3 1/2, and hasnt had a bottle for about 3-4 months now, but occasionally he still asks for one. We found a good way to wean him off having a bed time bottle, is to give a glass of warm milk before he goes to bed...

I had this same problem with my son. (now hes 3) I just fed him then took it and let him cry. The first few days that I did this with my son he cried for over an hour while I was in the next room crying! :0) But it worked really well. Hes went to bed from then on with less then 2 min of crying. I have tried rocking him and stuff but then he expected to be rocked every single night..which sometimes would take an hour or two. I know it sounds bad but its not going to hurt him. He will learn that you mean it when its sleepy time! Hope this helps...good luck!

Try reducing the amount in the bottle. Every few days reduce the amount by 1/2 and ounce to an ounce. He may get used to the smaller amounts and not need the bottle anymore.

He may also see the bottle as a comfort object. Try offering him something else like a teddy or blankie. Good Luck

You should never prop a bottle and let the baby sleep. It causes "soft teeth" aka tooth decay. Your just going to have to take the bottle out of the crib. Start feeding him an hour before bedtime. Start a routine. We read a book and I rock and sing lullabies. The routine is 15 minutes.

He will cry, but at a year old that's fine. Let him know you mean business.

He does not "need" a bottle. It is a habit which you, as the parent, must help him break. He cannot "refuse" to sleep all night; eventually he WILL fall asleep even if he cries himself to sleep. You need to take it away cold turkey and let him cry it out.

How old a baby are we talking about?
Babies need something to go to sleep on but give him less in the bottle each night.. start full then drop it an ounce each night.. start cutting it a bit with purified water.. eventually he will sleep without it.

well honestly for me I waited till my son didn't want the bottle anymore. And that was when he was like 16 months... and I had to hold the bottle everynight b/c he didn't want to. Children will tell you when they don't need it anymore. My son told me even when the docs told me to stop and let him cry it out... why? its not hurting my son.. it wasn't hurting me? nothing was wrong with his teeth... i always brushed his teeth in the morning and every night... why punish him for what he is used to.. i would wait and see to when he wants to stop.. unless he is over 2 years old.. then I would try to give him something to drink prior to bed and see if he likes that better.. like a warm glass of milk or something

Let him cry himself to sleep. After 15 min of him crying, go in, rub his back letting him know it's ok,then leave the room. I did this for a week and my daughter has been falling asleep by herself since she was 1 yr old (now 3 1/2). It was in a book I read called "what to expect the first yr". AWESOME book.

Then he just plain old needs it still. Just put water in it instead of milk or juice so it doesn't hurt his teeth, and he'll grow out of it. If he isn't sucking on a bottle, then he'd suck his thumb or his blanket or something else. Some babies just take longer to get off the nursing need.

He desires to earnings to pass to sleep on his own, your staggering approximately that. you're additionally staggering that the bottle desires to pass. what's contained in the bottle? If that's something different than water then he's in possibility for cavities and that's no longer good. additionally getting something to drink that previous due is going to make it extremely annoying to night practice him for the potty. besides, end rocking him until eventually asleep. First tell him not extra bottles, throw contained in the trash. Then take him to his room and rock, study a narrative for a touch. Then tell him that's bedtime and positioned to mattress. enable him to leap and play and in spite of. no longer something incorrect with that. If crying, then provide him 10 minutes and pass lower back in. Lay him down and walk lower back out. Wait 10 minutes lower back if crying and do yet lower back. try this until eventually he falls asleep. this might take a whilst in the initiating, yet ultimately he will pass to sleep on his own and do properly. while he wakes contained during the night, you will possibly be able to desire to do the ten minute component or you will possibly be able to desire to purely enable him CIO. i comprehend that's no longer hassle-free, yet he's crying out of habit, no longer out of style. it's time to create good dozing conduct b/c staggering now he has a foul dozing habit and that could desire to final a protracted time. He does nevertheless desire a snooze. perhaps a million to 2 hour nap an afternoon on the comparable time extensive-unfold. A cranky and overtired toddler will take longer to pass to sleep at night than one which feels purely a touch drained b/c he have been given an excellent nap. If he slept worse b/c of the CIO approach it would desire to b/c he felt you will possibly provide in and do what you have been doing all alongside (and he grow to be staggering). So this might take a whilst for him to comprehend which you're no longer to any extent further rocking him to sleep. You began and persevered with this habit, now you ought to ruin it. that's no longer likely to be hassle-free, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is potential and it is contained in the main suitable interest of his the teeth, his destiny sleep conduct and....your sanity.
