If the ingredients list "animal digest" the pet food contains feces, probably chicken. Read your labels.

It isn't just cat food.

The FDA approves a certain amount of waste products to go into human food too. It's just not put on the label because it's considered a "trace amount".

As far as milk...they don't tell you about the pus filled sacs that form on the cows udders as a type of mastitis. When the milking machine goes on, it ruptures these sacs and it goes into the milk.

But don't worry. It's pasturized and the FDA says it's okay.

usually high quality cat foods dont have that ingredient. You may find alot of that ingredient in grocery store varietys though Animal Digest is not harmful to you cat. IF you cat, catches and eats mice its eating its poop too. Also cats lick there anus and so therefore they ingest there own poop. Also they are required to list that ingredient for potential allergic reactions and health safey laws. Though its only a trace amount. Usually if they are rendering small animals into the "meat" base.

Thanks for the info. Just been to PetCo and bought some food that I want to try out for my cats. I read labels and I chose weight control cat food. Iams Weight Control canned food and Natural Choice Indoor Weight Control dry kibble. I just offered both to my cat who doesn't seem too impressed with them - yet. One of my cats need to shed some weight so, he's going to have to like these... he he he

actually it's way worse than that!
most cat and dog food is made from the left over of pig, cow, chicken, and fish waste .....(I am talking the nasty stuff! eyes, organs, feet, tails, whatever can be ground up...not to mention the rotten vegetables....)
It's really nasty, but that is truly how most of it is made!
