Look, for eating and other breaks - takes up 30 minutes of that time.

Why in the world are you spending 13.5 hours a day doing work???? Something's wrong somewhere. Or you are VERY dedicated.

The work I assign my (homeschooled) kids usually doesn't take long--maybe an hour (and for my 6yo, half an hour). But they choose other stuff on their own--my 9yo writes stories, poems, works on typing, plays piano, draws or other art work, research, reads voraciously... My 6yo might play piano, draw or other art work, work in workbooks of choice, listen to stories, do educational stuff on the computer (he gets two sessions per week). They also usually get time outside in the afternoon or just free play. The bulk of this stuff is done between 7:30 and 11am.

Homeschooled teens I know spend anywhere from 3-5 hours on specific/assigned work, and then probably additional time reading or other personal interests (sports, for example). I don't know ANY teen who actually has to spend 13 hours doing school work each day. That's insane. You'd have less work in school. Are you trying to graduate early or something? Don't burn out!

ADDED: Okay, so take 30 minutes out for each meal, plus let's say an additional 3 breaks of 30 minutes each. That's still 10 hours of work! I don't know any homeschooled student who spends that much time. Unless you're saying you don't actually work ALL that time, you just stretch things out so much during the day that you end up having to do some at 9pm.

In college are you or just a really bad high school procrastinator? I'm in college and there is a rule of thumb "2 for 1" two hours of homework/studying for every one class every night. I do roughly an hour of math homework monday through friday ... gets to being a habit just to do it at the same time, makes it not as much a task but routine. I'm off to bed too ... sleep well and good luck with homework farther into the week. -Okay, if you think homework is tedious now just wait until college. The load work gets heavier and in college the professors really don't care if you fail because you put it off to the last minute. They may like you but if you fail it is your fault. Build good study habits and get in a routine, it will help and is the only way I'm surviving school and work right now.

I started in the morning about 7 o’clock and went until my daily assignments were through. Sometimes it was late in the evening, other times it was done around 11am or noon.

It all depended on how focused and determined I was to get it done. I was awarded for getting done sooner by being able to do fun things, like playing with my friends or fishing and so on.

If I took a long time I was not aloud to do any of the fun things, sometimes I got grounded.

I have already graduated, but all this was pretty much the same from elementary to most of high school.

It does seem you are spending too much time though. I would suggest trying to either find ways to do your work more efficiently or lightening you load.

7:00 to 8:00pm it depend on how much homework I have and how easy it is. Sometimes my home work takes 30 minutes to 2 hours like I said it depends on the amount of work.

I'm a sophomore in college and I do my reading and my homework right after class ( as much as I can anyway ).
I almost never wait until past 8 or 9 to do my homework as I'm ready to relax or go out and do something fun by then.
