Never Say,
I may not be original, but can point out some things. First, even the truly great performers have had butterflies. In fact, it can be a good stimulate. It probably indicates that you are dedicated and will be well prepared. When you are well prepared, whether for a speech (where I have had more experience) or singing (mine was karaoke), those butterflies will probably disappear. It is important to recognize that this is normal.
Making it to the finals. It is good that you have this goal. But I can see more in papers I have delivered (I am a complete amateur and untrained karaoke singer) the ultimate verdict is not in my or your hands. The judges will make their own determination, and not necessarily fairly. There will be more contests, see each one as a learning experience. If you go far GREAT, but if you don't just adjust for next time.
I am not competitve in karaoke and try to see it as fun. I have a few moments to be like my idols (Hank Snow, Frank Sinatra--see how old I am). In that way it is a chance to fantasize and have fun. Maybe you could see yourself as a singer you admire, and push some of those ol' butterflies away.
Good Luck and God Bless

Know your material and practice, practice, practice without ragging your voice out. It's all about control. Be confident when you get there that you can perform the material to the best of your abilities and don't worry about what everyone else sounds like. I am a halfway decent vocalist but primarily a guitarist. I sing because vocalists are so flaky and often don't show up so I end up covering for them. I don't worry with it. And I have been told on a number of occaisions that I am more than able to do the job of a vocalist even though I know I barely cut the mustard as a singer. It's all in the passion you have for music.

Okay, first .... stop talking to yourself like that.
second... stop talking to yourself like that.
You might just make it to the finals.
*Make sure to get enough rest everynight.
*Drink lots of water.
* Breathe! When we're nervous we forget to do this... Vocal chords need air to sound good.
* Warm-up, but not too much. There is such a thing as over practicing.
Break a leg!

just imagine that you are at home singing and tell yourself to do your personal best. Even if you don't make it, at least you did your best.
